[simpleaffiliate source="chitika" results="0"][/simpleaffiliate] U-Commerce and Wired Jackets in New York?
Yesterday, my MIS professor was teaching us about the transformation of commerce over the years, from traditional commerce, to e-commerce, mobile commerce, and beyond.
He said that the next generation is U-commerce, or ubiquitous commerce. He says it's not very prominent or even hardly known yet, except for a little bit in New York.
I didn't really understand, but he was saying something about U-commerce involving stuff like jackets with wiring in them that you could do commerce through while you excercise and whatnot?
Does anyone know about this or have any links? How does it work? And how soon will it get big in America?
It is hard to say when it will get bigger because this depends on people who should use this technology and support it.
You can read more abou U-commerce at the site bellow

Mexico And Its Incredible Role In International Commerce And The International Economy
The international economy has immensely grown over the past few decades as a lot more resources are developed that maximize the opportunities of importing and exporting, as well as greatly increasing the potential of international communication. Several businesses have made the move to make the most of this international economy through investment into resources such as outsourcing, which allows them to reduce their expenses and increase the opportunities of maximizing profit.
This international economy has also helped in boosting the opportunities of international commerce, as companies expand their business into countries around the world which offer strength in the domestic market. Mexico is one of the nations that has discovered the greatest advantage created by the international trade.
Mexico has fast become one of the greatest nations of opportunity for a business organization to take advantage of when looking to develop their profits with imports and increase the opportunities of producing exports. With looking to make the most of the opportunity of importing, Mexico supports a really large domestic market of over 112 million citizens.
When you combine this with the average age being 29, you discover a marketplace which provides great promise for a company looking to invest in international commerce, into a relatively untapped resource. To further aid companies in benefiting from this opportunity, Mexico has reduced their tariffs on imports from 13% to 4.8%, creating incredible savings for any company looking for investment into this foreign market.
Whilst the opportunities of importing are exceedingly positive, one more advantage a company could utilize when seeking the best possibilities in the international economy is found with production and exporting in Mexico. With the average age of citizens in Mexico being 29, it enables businesses to tap into a very youthful workforce that will help in maximizing production potential. Furthermore, 28% of the population is under the age of 15 which will allow you to continuously tap into a youthful workforce that's well-educated and driven towards creating high-quality products. The educational growth in Mexico is highly important, taking advantage of fields such as engineering, electrics, automotive, information technology, aerospace, and many other areas that will benefit your production opportunities.
One of the greatest possibilities in Mexico which exist with international commerce and taking advantage of the international economy is found with location. As a central point in the world, Mexico offers incredible access to high areas of international commerce, like those found in North America, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. Mexico supports 49 international access points, 76 seaports, 85 airports, 26,700 km of railroad, 366,000 km of roads, and even 11 trade agreements that give them access to 43 markets equaling 66% of the world GDP. No other country can match the international opportunities of importing and exporting which exists with Mexico.
ProMexico is the Mexican Government institution in charge of strengthening Mexico's participation in the international trade (<a href="http://www.myspace.com/556608531">comercio</a>). With this objective in mind, the institution supports the export activity of companies established in the country and co-ordinates actions to attract foreign direct investment to national territory. ProMexico was established on June 13, 2007, as a sectoral public trust under the Ministry of the Economy, and operates through a network of 25 offices throughout Mexico and more than 27 offices abroad.

It is very common for companies to outsource some of their tasks or processes to specialized companies or individuals. This has two advantages. First, it allows companies to focus their time and resources on their core business and become better at it. Secondly, tasks that are necessary but not worth the money, equipment, or effort in training are handled by third companies who have already invested in that and can deliver good quality.
As of lately, the development of websites for trading online has been outsourced more and more. Companies prefer to focus and specializ on what they sell than on the computer skills necessary to create an e-commerce website. That's how e-commerce developers came to be and became one more of the specialized suppliers that companies go to.
However, companies need some knowledge and skill to tell the good and competent e-commerce developers from the bad ones. Here are two tips to point you in the right direction.
· The developer's site. A very simple way of seeing the quality of e-commerce developers is just to go to their site and take a look at it. Since creating web sites is their business, logic dictates that they put their best work on their own site. Any error here is inexcusable. Take the time to read the page and see their writing style (look for typos!). Also check that every tab, option, link, and page works. Lastly, look at the design of the page. Is it nice looking and attractive? If what you see has mistakes or is not something you would like for your own page, then move on.
· Their work plan. Good e-commerce developers will first give you an outline of what they plan to do. The more detailed, the better. The best ones will not only have very specific and measurable steps, but they will also have deadlines for each step and will be willing to put their signature on the plan. Take into consideration that they will usually be more expensive than the others. On the other hand, don't lose your time with a developer that doesn't want to present a plan or be specific.
If the site is for a company that has the ability to ship worldwide or at least to several countries, then price should not be your first priority. It can be tempting to go for the cheapest e-commerce developers but I would advise against putting your online sales on the hands of less than ideal people.

Introducing M-Commerce To Direct Selling Organizations
Background
Imagine. You are a sales consultant selling Sterling Silver Jewelry. You sell your jewelry through your network of friends and acquaintances who host parties in their homes. As the hostesses say, "come out for a fun ladies' night and dress-up with our jewelry!" Your hostess invites her friends, relatives, neighbors and associates to her home, and you display the jewelry and take orders!
Challenges
If only it were that easy. Attending parties as a way of earning a living might sound fun, and it is, although hard work and perseverance are involved too. The Internet and technology have enriched all of our lives and increased our productivity. The introduction of M-commerce is no exception.
Remember, sales consultants typically don't bring their computers with them to their parties. Not all consultants own a laptop, and, of course, there is no guarantee of wireless access in every home.
In the standard scenario, the consultant essentially takes the order twice; orders are hand-written with estimated shipping dates, unverified credit card information, and unverified shipping address. The orders are then input into their order processing system at a later time. When a credit card doesn't validate or the merchandise is unavailable because it's on back-order or because it's retired, the consultant then starts the arduous task of trying to communicate this to her clients. Additionally, before any order, guests may have questions about product availability, size availability, or something else where the information is only available by checking online.
Also consider that another way for sales consultants to earn commissions is by recruiting additional representatives, known as their "downline." Representatives earn a percentage of their "downline " sales. The ability to recruit and sign up a "downline" representative on the spot significantly improves the chances the recruit will move forward. Frequently, by the time the recruiting representative returns to her computer to complete the paper work, the recruit has changed her mind, and another addition to the "downline" is missed.
Enter Mobility for E-Commerce
Just as the Internet and e-commerce emerged as key elements of buying and selling more than a decade ago, mobile capabilities and m-commerce are the next wave in which retailers and consumers will leverage new technology in doing business. According to an independent report, "For eBusinesses and retailers, one clear benefit of mobile applications is how they can provide unprecedented opportunities for cross-channel interaction; they can be the conduit that ties the channels together, linking them through consumers' mobile devices," wrote Brian K. Walker, senior analyst, eBusiness & Channel Strategy ("Is The Time Right To Build A Mobile App?", Forrester Research, Inc., October 2009).
Exadel's M-Commerce Solution
Exadel's M-Commerce Solution enables "anytime, anywhere" access to the key capabilities of e-commerce offerings. Exadel's strategy is to extend its collaborative applications and integration solutions for enterprises via smartphone-based systems. Currently, Android and iPhone smartphones are supported. The first mobile applications work with the product catalog and shopping cart e-commerce capabilities .
It's only a matter of time before most people will have some sort of smartphone, just as cell phones eventually became ubiquitous. The compelling user interfaces of smartphones like the iPhone makes them the perfect venue for Exadel's solution to help companies explore new ways of serving customers and functioning effectively that they might not have even thought of doing before.
Using the M-Commerce Solution
There are many examples in terms of our initial scenario of how compellingly beneficial "anytime, anywhere" access can be for e-commerce. Customers and representatives would be able to adjust their product choices instantly when facing an out-of-stock situation. Representatives would be more effective in meeting consumer needs by finding and reserving available-to-promise inventory and completing the sale from the mobile device, minimizing customer wait time and inconvenience.
The M-Commerce Solution client can be used to:
Check delivery status on pending orders
Get instant credit card or shipping address validation
Shop via their mobile device through a mobile store front that provides mobile commerce capabilities for retailers to build and deploy a mobile store presence
Allow consumers to browse available products, find inventory, select their fulfillment method, and order and pay for products all from their mobile handheld device.

With increasing frequency, global companies are facing the need to deploy complex Web infrastructure and e-commerce solutions to capture business opportunities quickly using their existing systems. [simpleaffiliate source="chitika" results="0"][/simpleaffiliate] What is a business that can not be enhanced by the internet called?
I am doing a research paper in which I am going to discuss E-commerce and internet businesses versus anti-internet businesses only that is not a real word. So please DON'T give me an obvious and idiotic answer like "business." I am looking for businesses that do/can not use the internet to greatly benefit themselves. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU, AFTER DOING SOME WORK I REMEMBERED BRICK-AND-MORTAR BUSINESSES.
You may need to separate "Internet" and "E-Commerce" into distinctly different roles.
Every business on the planet would benefit from an "Internet" presence, because of the potential mass exposure. The internet allows a business a space to educate its ideal consumer about the companies product and service.
The whole point of being in business is to make and keep customers...so being exposed to as many potential customers as possible, is a massive advantage upgrade.
E-Commerce....I think this is where you are trying to identify a company which would not benefit from "Purchase" transactions over the internet....and again...as I sit here I am having difficulty thinking how this would not benefit any company. If something comes to mind I will edit this.

Hi all. I'm looking for possible solutions to add e-commerce shopping to my site. I basically would like a highly customizable shopping cart app that is inexpensive. Share your experience with these carts software
There are a million options when it comes to time to start building e-commerce websites. The choices are varied, with top players including Volusion, Shopify, BigCommerce, and My EZ Online Store.
This review focuses on the newest company that appears to provide services at the lowest cost: My EZ Online Store.
Building E-commerce Website with My EZ Online Store
My EZ Online Store is a shopping cart solution and website builder that serves two different markets. They provide services similar to Shopify and the others that allows people with products to build their own websites. They also offer a web store solution to those who would like to start an online business, but don't have any products.
My EZ Online Store allows users to create an affiliate store that instantly adds products from online marketplaces around the web, like Amazon, Linkshare, Shopzilla, and others. Users can choose the type of store they would like to open, and the products that will go in it. Then, they earn a commission on each product sold.
For both of these services, My EZ Online Store charges the same. They have a free plan that includes a branded site and subdomain, for an unlimited amount of time. Their paid plans include domain name registration (your own custom domain) and start at $20 for 5 pages of affiliate products, or 100 SKU's of your own products. Their most expensive plan caps out at $99, which allows sellers an unlimited number of products featured on their store.
Downsides are that customers have to pay for their own SSL certificate for security. Also, customer service isn't 24/7, or at least not yet. Anyone who signs up (even with a free account) gets a free consult call with an e-commerce expert, and those who join the top tiers of the pricing plan get live customer support for themselves and also for shoppers on their site - something not provided by other popular services at this time.
Benefits include integration into social media, easy set-up, and the ability to add Adsense into your website. The free and unlimited trial is a big bonus for most people just joining in on e-commerce. And the price plan includes domain name registration, which many other services also don't include in their plans.
Ultimately, figuring out how to start building an e-commerce website can be a challenge, but there are several options for making the process much easier. My EZ Online Store appears to be the most cost-effective of these, offering users to place 100 SKU's on their site for a lower price than Volusion, Shopify, or BigCommerce. Based on their features and services page, it appears that My EZ Online Store will become a big player in the e-commerce game in time to come.

just wanted 2 know few examples of event handlers for Event Driven Programing with an example of e commerce website.
Event driven programming is, as it sounds programming to handle an event.
In an e-commerce website that event could be clicking a button to add the item to the shopping cart or clicking the Pay Now button to run through the programming part of taking payment, reserving stock, producing paperwork for the staff to get things down off the shelf, sending out a confirmation email and so on and so on.
In a non e-commerce situation, it could be as simple as a button to change the background colour of a page or a timer that when it passes midnight or goes to a specific date displays something on the screen. S-Commerce and the Social Hub Wave
Until recently, e-commerce was the new topic anyplace. E-commerce began the new way to buy - online - as against traditional offline commerce. Web 1.0 started with that. Soon after, the now omnipresent Web 2.0 dawned on us, as more users came online and interactions began to happen. Natural progression in technology made it possible for everyone involved to use videos and high-broadband syndication techniques. It is, today, hard to imagine, a web without blogging. Forum participation caught on fire. Youtube is omnipresent today.
Web 2.0 is changing again, for the better. Blogging is giving way to micro-blogging as an easier path to convey information. Twitter led the way and still to-date continues to. It has become really easy for anyone to share their thoughts, news, opinions, reviews, opinions and agreements to other people's thoughts and views, and to share links of what they like and what they do not like, all in a 140 character snippet. "Viral" marketing truly caught on fire. And alongside that, the true meaning of "Social" began taking shape with social networks. Facebook has enabled users to interact with people they know, trust and wish to become friends with, with ease, sophistication and in style. Social Media Marketing and Social Networking have become synonymous with Facebook. Facebook, with its 600 plus million user community, has taken the world by storm, sufficient to say that Facebook would be one of the top most populous places, if it were a country. Facebook could well be a country on its own and a bank too with its social currency! Today, people live, sleep and wake-up with Facebook and social has become the new standard.
The e-world is on the move again, in the right direction. The wonderful world of e-commerce and the awesomely addictive world of social networking are coming together. E-commerce and Social Networking are joining forces and the result is fascinating. Welcome to Social Commerce! A variety of names and paths - S-Commerce, Social Market, Social Hub, Social Shopping, Scommerce, Social E-commerce, Social Ecommerce, Social Marketplace - all of them lead to exactly the same destination - Social Commerce.
Wikipedia calls Social Commerce as the "Use of social media via social interaction and user contributions to assist in the online buying and selling of products and services". So, what is this and why is it useful? Simply put, people trust other people than products, brands or companies. When people hear good or bad things about anything, whether a product or a service, and the more they hear about it in a particular direction (good or bad), they naturally incline to the decision that the product or service is as-such, without having to try the same themselves. This does make perfect sense and is applicable for our everyday life. Needless to say, feedback, recommendations and reviews are worth more than any other imaginable description of what's being offered. In the space of electronic commerce, with its difficulties around buying or selling products or services remotely, where one cannot touch and feel the offering prior to purchase, particularly will benefit from social interactions and user contributions in a manner that is beyond words. One can finally buy a product or service knowing and trusting what other users say, as opposed to just believing in the vendor advertisement on the product. This is cool, is it not!!
The world of Social Commerce applies just as equally to services as it does to products. On the product side, Social Shopping is becoming the way to go. With services, Social Marketplace is gaining traction as the way to seek and fulfill services. Social Commerce has seen over $2 billion in investments in the first quarter of 2011 alone. This is the new way of business. Social Commerce - the way forward it is.

The first client is a photographer. I will be constructing a site with general pages (ex: About Me), a blog (Wordpress), and photo galleries. The galleries will need to be password protected for her client's privacy. She will be creating new galleries for each client, uploading photos often, and may even want to change site colors from time to time.
The second client wants a small site for her retail shop. It will *not* be e-commerce, however. It will only contain a small collection of static pages which she will be updating at least weekly.
It is necessary that they are open-source, so keep that in mind when you answer, please. :)
For the first site you can use WordPress as the CMS solution as well, since you are going to use it there for the blog. WP is more and more used as CMS nowadays, even for the sites that don't have the blogging features. It started as a blogging platform but it has grown into a fully functional CMS. You would just use "Pages" instead of "Posts". However, I just briefly searched WP plug-ins to see if there's a ready-to-use photo gallery plug-in with password protected galleries and I don't see one. I found one for Joomla, it's very powerful but it's not free - http://www.photo-graffix.com/joomla/ In Joomla you could also have a blog. Best blogging extension for Joomla is called Lyftenbloggie and it's free, not as powerful as WP but works for most users. For the second site I would use Joomla and if the client ever changes her mind it will be easy to turn it into an e-Commerce site with VirtueMart extension. Good luck!
