I want to gain a general working knowledge of computer/ internet technologies. Where should i start? Help!?

I need to learn as much as possible on the technologies used for e-commerce and the general internet. I do not require to know to program specifically, but i need to know what does what. Also, how do all the technologies fit in together? For e.g., what tech does Amazon.com or even Yahoo uses? Help is greatly appreciated!
