Effectiveness of selling product via phone?
Evaluate the effectiveness of multi marketing modes used in Malaysia:
1. telephone
2. direct selling
3. selling over the internet
Selling goods over the phone may not be very effective. I'm not sure if you get this in Malaysia or not, but here in Australia, we hate telemarketers (very annoying pests).
One disadvantage is that you may only be able to sell one good at a time, because you won't be able to call multiple customers simultaneously. You could if you invest in telemarketers, but it can be expensive in the sense that you'll have to invest in more telephones, and pay for the calls (plus line rental).
I guess there can be advantages in the sense that you could communicate with the customer on a more personal level and answer whatever questions the customer may have about the product or services being sold.
Direct selling can have advantages too in the sense that the seller could communicate to the customer on a personal level, answer any questions, and provide demonstrations. However, again this is expensive in the sense that you'll not only have to pay for the salesman, but also his or her transportation to the customer's premises. Also again, here in Australia, we don't like to be disturbed.
The best selling medium out of the three would most likely be selling over the internet. More customers could access your online store simultaineiosly whenever they like and get whatever information they need. It is also quite cheap to set up an online store, especially if you use eBay. Only problem is that you have less control over the interaction with the customers.
