What is the best way to learn PHP and MySQL for a e-commerce web app?

I need to write a web app that includes 3 sites (seperate yet communcating between each other).
Site 1:
E-Commerce (Like www.newegg.com)
MySQL driven website

Site 2:
Banking Site (Like www.paypal.com)

Site 3:
Shipping Site (Like www.ups.com)

The three sites are going to simulate a real world e-commerce system.

Any suggestions on where to start?
