Shopping Cart E-commerce?

I am looking to make a shopping cart like ticketmaster.com. Do any of you know where to learn how to have a countdown clock and if the time expires, the person looses the ticket or item? What is the coding like and what details of the backend should I know about?

If you are doing it in ASP.net check out www.asp.net. It isn't to hard in that language. Involves some server side coding for tracking time.
