What is online marketing?
Online Marketing, also known as Internet marketing, web marketing, search marketing or e-marketing, refers to using the power of Internet advertising to generate a feedback from audience. This method is generally used by companies for selling goods and services either directly to the consumers or to the other businesses (both B2C and B2B purposes). The concept of online marketing or internet marketing is relatively new, but now it is growing faster than others. Many organizations take web marketing as their lifeline and key functional aspect of their marketing strategies. The outcomes of online marketing are far different from ordinary business marketing and may bring six types of organic benefit such as capability is increased, communications are refined, control is enhanced, customer service is improved, costs are reduced and competitive advantages may be achieved based on competitor's reaction.
Online Marketing haswider scope than ordinary marketing. It not only refers to an online exposer and marketing through internet but also incorporates marketing done via e-mail and wireless media.
(ECRM) or electronic customer relationship management and digital customer data also fall in internet marketing category.
Internet marketing demands the blending of both creative and technical aspects of the Internet. It includes the placement of media in different stages of customer engagement cycle through search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing, banner ads on specific websites, and Web 2.0 strategies.

Online marketing is strongly associated with different business models given bellow:
E-commerce: This is an effective business model consists of the buying and selling of products or services directly to consumers (B2C), businesses (B2B) or from one consumer to another consumer (C2C).It encompasses different stages like developing, marketing, selling, delivering, servicing and paying for products and services.
Lead-based websites: This model refers to a strategywhere an organizationgenerates the value or income from the sales lead of his clients' sites.
Affiliate Marketing: Affiliate marketing is a practice in which a product or service developed by one entity is sold by other active sellers and a sharing of profits go on among them. These prospects are often called organic leads.
Local Internet marketing: Local Internet marketing refers to a strategy by which small companies utilize the advantage of Internet to find and nurture relationships available to the real world. Local Internet marketing uses various tools like social media marketing, local directory listing and target oriented online sales promotions.
Apart from these main categories there are other forms of online marketing like: Search Engine Marketing, Viral Marketing, Email Marketing, Display Advertising, Niche Marketing and Geo-targeting
Whatever in different forms and strategies online marketing can come to us but the purpose is the same. It is to strengthen the operational core of a business and reduce the amount of loss and instability. In addition to this, online marketing inculcate interactivity. Thus e-marketing is playing great a role by making a bridge among businesses and end customers in a most effective manner.
