internet marketing! please help!!!?

I'm thinking of doing an online business. I know it's hard work and there is no such thing as get rich over night.

I have been searching for some classes that teach internet marketing and so far Full Sail University is the only school I can find.

My questions are:

How long has internet marketing been in the industry? I know it's been quite a while and there are people get rich from it in the beginning but how long have people been doing this? Are still room for internet marketing to grow?

Should I do it or it's just a waste of time? Because I know internet marketing is about SEO, PPC, landing page etc... should I do it?

If so, please help me pick a product.

Any tip and information would be great.
